Betty Gibbs Norton, age 76 of Monticello, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born April 8, 1941 in Pine Bluff, AR to the late Joseph Carroll Gibbs and Gertrude Appling Gibbs.

She was a bookkeeper, salesperson and worked in alterations for Van Atkins Department Store for 19 years and was a member of Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Abernathy, Patsy Jackson and Nancy Sipes. Mrs. Betty's top priority in life has always been her son, Gene as she always put his needs before her own.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Marvin Norton of Monticello; one daughter, Terri Norton Funderburg and husband Gary of Camden; two sons, Joey Norton and wife Kelly and a very special son, Gene Norton all of Monticello; one sister, Peggy Gibbs Bumpass of Monticello; four grandchildren, Emily Funderburg Nugent and Sydney Funderburg both of Camden, Brett Norton and Heidi Norton both of Monticello; six great-grandchildren, Braxton Nugent, Branton Nugent, Addison Landon, Emma Kate Norton, Gracen Norton and Maeleigh Jo Norton.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
