Audis O'Neal Goss, age 85 of Monticello, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her residence in Monticello. She was born September 13, 1932 in Itta Bena, MS to the late James Robert O'Neal and Nola Whinery O'Neal.

She was a retired sales clerk and cafeteria worker for the Leflore School System and was a member of Second Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Goss; one sister, Elouise Goss. Mrs. Goss was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and showed that commitment to others through acts of service. She regularly showered others with food in times of need and shared whatever she had, no matter how meager it might seem. She ran her household and faithfully took care of her husband for 66 years. She loved her family, friends, and neighbors devotedly. Her favorite times were when she was preparing to have company from the O'Neal and Texas families. She loved to cook, crochet, sew and go shopping for her daughter and grandchildren. Her humor and care for others will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Goss Peden and husband Jack of Monticello; one brother, Bob O'Neal and wife Diane of Tupelo, MS; three sisters, Dean Tucker of Aberdeen, MS, Frances Tackett and husband Marion of Chattanooga, TN and Doni Bowers and husband Ed of Tupelo, MS; a sister-in-law, Linn Goss of Fort Worth, TX; three grandsons, Marshall Henderson and wife, Jill-Curry of Fort Payne, AL, Trey Peden and wife Christy of Richland, MS and J.T. Henderson of Fort Worth, TX; one granddaughter, Roxanne Stanton and husband Mark of Clinton, MS; seven great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Myles, Smith, Addyson, Max, Roscoe and George; and her loving caring sitters, Valerie Simmons, Kim Hokes and Linda Carrington.

While I didn't know Mrs. Goss personally, I am good friends with her daughter Sarah. If Sarah is any example of who she was as a person, then Audis had to be a great example of a kind, prayer warrior, loyal, and Godly woman. She raised a daughter to be all of that and more. Prayers of comfort and peace for the family.
