Miles Jr. "Tex" Whitener, Sr., age 82 of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at his home. He was born June 11, 1937 in Galveston, TX to the late Oscar Whitener and Clara Louise Edmiston Whitener.

He was retired from Burlington Industries, a United States Army Veteran of Korea and was of the Assembly of God faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Miles loved his church and was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt and fish and just enjoying nature. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Renita Gunn Whitener of Monticello; two sons, Jason Whitener of Austin, TX and Miles Jr. Whitener, Jr. of NH; three daughters, Terry Whitener Roberts of Pine Bluff, Michelle Whitener Medlin of KS and Cammie Whitener Edwards of FL; four grandchildren, Breanna, Brittany, Lynn and Brook; and two great-grandchildren, Kable and Milla.
