She was the widow of Gerald L. Hartley, Sr., a retired Burlington Industries employee and a Methodist. Mrs. Mary loved her flower gardens and tending to her many plants. She also loved to can her blueberries, was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook and always looked forward to going on road trips with her husband Gerald to Mountain View to listen to bluegrass music. She had an immense love for the little ones of the Hartley family. She would always get the children around her and tell them stories of her childhood. Mrs. Mary was a very adventurous lady but most of all, she was a wonderful wife and mother.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two children, David Shawn Hartley and Ona Faith McDaniel; a grandson, Steven Radley Bright; five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her three children, Donna Garrett of Burkeville, TX, April Ross of Florence and Gerald Hartley, Jr. of Lacey; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020, in Lacey Cemetery. A visitation following Covid-19 guidelines will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. preceding the graveside service at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.

Kirkland, WA Sunday, October 4, 2020 Mrs Hartley would I guess be my step-grandmother. She was very sweet and LOVED my dad. It was so sweet how he could do no wrong in her eyes. I forever will smile when someone says they need a “wrench” and I have to get clarification if they want to “rinse” out a rag, color their hair or need a tool.Sleep soft Mrs Hartley
