Phillip Wayne Barnett, age 57, of Monticello, passed away October 15, 2020. He was Born June 7, 1963 to the late L. B. Barnett and Myrtle Hice Barnett.

He was employed with Burlington Industries and of Christian faith.

In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Lee Barnett, and one sister, Altha Barnett Smith.

Survivors are, his mother Myrtle Hice Barnett of Monticello, one son, Christopher Thompson of Monticello, two brothers, Daron Barnett, and Roger Barnett of Monticello, three sisters, Rose Richardson and husband John, and Misty Wood and husband Todd of Wilmar, JoAnn Marter of Monticello. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Ms. Myrtle, Darin and Roger... We can’t imagine how broken hearted ya’ll are over losing Phillip. But to say we are are saddened is an understatement. Phillip was a sweet guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He also had a funny side to him that probably wasn’t intentional; he was just naturally funny. He also enjoyed playing his guitar with Andy at church when he could. And along the way, he helped us when we needed him. He was a blessing. He was a dear friend. We will miss him being in this world, but we’ll see him again, soon.
