You are all in our thoughts and prayers during the days ahead. I know that Harley was your whole heart. The last time we spoke of him you were telling me about him joining the National Guard and you were so proud of him. I can only imagine how hard this journey is for you. Please know that you will be in my prayers daily.

Harley, it was an honor and a privilege to get to spend so much time with you when you were a kid! You had SO much energy! More than I knew what to do with sometimes!

I remember watching you ride your razor scooter at the park in Monticello. From a young age, you loved the scaly, slimy animals that I would prefer to stay away from. :)

I would eat lunch with you at your elementary school sometimes and the other kids would ask who I was. You hated the term "babysitter", so I never said that, but I wasn't family either, so I think we settled on "tutor".

I remember when you were maybe 7 you talked about a girl at school named Mariah that you had a crush on. You HATED practicing your spelling words, so I remember one time to try to make it fun, I asked you to use your whole body to shape each letter.

I tutored you for 3 years and I wish I could remember every single moment, but that was many years ago, so I just remember the highlights. Like when you ate sardines out of the can and your mom looked horrified and said the sardines were for your pet! Can't remember which pet because you always had a variety of pets.

I remember you talking about your siblings and cousins and showing me their pictures. You absolutely idolized your dad, who I got to meet in person a few times.

I am so glad I ran into you and your mom in Little Rock a few years ago and got to see you all grown up!

I know your mom will never stop loving you and missing you every day.

And I promise, as a favor to you, I will make an effort to be nice to the creepy crawly animals and bugs that cross my path.
