She was the widow of J.D. West whom she was married to for 65 years, a retired Monticello school teacher where she taught 5th grade for 25 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Monticello. Mrs. Sandra also worked alongside her husband J.D. West in his appraisal business and cattle ranch for many years. She enjoyed doing yoga, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, reading, politics and most of all, spending time with her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alco Owens Dahme and Dorothy Lynn Owens Calhoun.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah West Brooks and husband Bernie; her son, James Neil (Jim) West; five grandchildren, Christopher Neil Brooks and wife Kristy, Jeffrey Alan Brooks and wife Cover, Jade West Ross and husband Zack, Jamie West Rawls and Jacob James West and wife Amber; and eight great grandchildren, Jaxon Rawls, Halle Ross, Ace Rawls, Gunner Ross, Lucy West Brooks, Troupe Brooks, Ruth Greer Brooks and Sarah Claire West.
