Commerce, TX Sunday, July 31, 2022 My deepest condolences Mrs. Gulledge and family. I was Gene's colleague and friend during our short time of working together at UAM a long time ago. Monticello, AR Friday, July 22, 2022 Shermane,Please know that Jack and I are thinking of you at this time of grief. Gene was a dedicated faculty member who generously endowed several scholarships for UAM students. His students were generous in praising Gene for his determination to help each student succeed. Gene was also a very good bridge player; I learned the hard way as his opponent! We send our prayers to you and your family as you proceed on your new path without Gene by your side.
Sincerely,
Judy and Jack Lassiter

Choudrant, LA Thursday, July 21, 2022 Shermane, I am so sorry to hear about Gene's death on Tuesday especially since I had been by to see him on Monday. He was a dear friend with whom I shared many happy hours and good times--playing with and against him at the bridge table, going with the two of you to the AR state fair, and eating all those delicious meals at your home. He was a strong supporter of UAM by endowing several scholarships and was generous in support of the jazz band. I am very glad that I got to know Gene and call him my friend. May God bless his soul and comfort you in this time of sorrow and grief.Becky Phillips
