James Gary Cooper, Sr., age 88 of Warren, AR, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, March 29, 2024, at his home. He was born May 11, 1935, in Paragould, AR to the late James Roger Cooper and Elaine Allmond Cooper.
Gary was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a very active member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Warren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by his loving wife, Jonnie Elle Dearman Cooper. Gary and his wife enjoyed their retirement camping and following their grandson Tripp in professional swimming activities all over the country. He served in the United States Army National Guard during the Korean War and was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by a son, Jim Cooper and wife Dorothy of The Woodlands, TX; a daughter, Cindy Cooper of Fort Smith; grandson, Tripp Cooper of The Woodlands, TX; a sister, Rita Kay Cooper of Little Rock; a sister-in-law, Mary Heffner of Cabot; niece and nephews, Chris Reighard, Tommy Heffner, Charles F. ''Chuck'' Dearman, Jr. and David Dearman; and step-grandchildren, David and Brandon Dunaway, Alexis, Nick and Klayton Dunaway, Katelynn Ashcraft and Fallon Ashley.
There will be a private family graveside service at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, AR. A visitation will be held from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2024, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. You can sign Gary's guestbook registry on this page.

    We were so sad to hear of Mr. Gary's passing! Thought so much of him. Mark worked for him several times, at his home, and doing the front doors of the church. Years ago, the kids sometimes would go with Mark up to his house, and Mrs. Jonne would always send them home with goodies! Mr. Gary was a really good man who will certainly be missed by all who knew him. All the family is in our prayers!!
