He was a retired surveyor with Pomeroy & McGowan and was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Thornton and Margaret Adair.
He is survived by three nephews, Kenneth Adair of Monticello, Tony Thornton and Dennis Thornton both of Florida; along with a host of cousins.
Graveside services will be announced later by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
