She was a retired restaurant worker, homemaker and a Baptist. Dorothy loved to fish, shop and gamble but her greatest love was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Bill Owens; a daughter, Diana Acrey; a granddaughter, Erica Barnard; four brothers, Junior Layton, Robert Layton, Jimmy Layton and Harold Layton; and three sisters, Lena Mae Bartholomew, Ruthie Mae Layton and Brenda Kay Peacock.
She is survived by her husband, Randy ''Blondie'' McDaniel of Monticello; two sons, Roy Lee Owens of Crossett and Johnny McDaniel and wife Jennifer of Monticello; a sister, Dolly Layton of Monticello; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2024, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held at her home next week and will be announced by Stephenson-Dearman when determined. You can sign Dorothy's guestbook registry on this page.
