Lu Ann Tucker Groce Denison

Send Flowers Send Flowers
Lu Ann Tucker Groce Denison met her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 22, 2024. Lu Ann was a woman of strong faith and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a graduate of Monticello High School and loved making the town of Monticello her home.
Lu Ann had an eye for beauty and a vision for creating warm, inviting spaces, whether it was for a client, whose home she prayed over as she worked, or her own home which was the family hub for weekly dinners and holiday gatherings.
Lu Ann considered being a mother and a ''Lulu'' to her four grandchildren her greatest delight, and they were the center of her world. In fact, she was adored as ''Lulu'' by her nieces, great nieces and nephews, and her grandchildren's friends. She was sacrificial and committed to nurturing and supporting her flock. Life was always more fun with Lulu.
Lu Ann was preceded in death by her husband William Pierce Groce, Jr. (Bill) and by her parents Ann Marie Andler Tucker and Roland Newton Tucker. She is survived by her devoted husband Sam Denison; her children, Leigh Ashley Breedlove (Mike) and William Pierce Groce, III, (Amanda); her grandchildren Tucker and James Pierce Breedlove and William and Katherine Louis Groce; her brothers Mark Tucker (Kathy) and Gary Tucker (Beth), her nieces Anna Beth Barnes (Rob) and Sara Davis (Philip); and her sister-in-law Lee Ann Groce Tadel (Jim), her nieces Tricia Baker (Trae) and Amy Arnold; and her step children Holly Graves (Ryan) and Adam Denison.
Lu Ann's happiness did not depend on her life's circumstances. Her happiness was deeply rooted in her total dependence upon God to see her through every day and on the relationships she forged with her family and friends and the wonderful life she lived with them. Some people leave a void that simply cannot be filled; that is how many people will feel about our Lulu.
There will be an informal gathering of family and friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

    Dear Leigh Ashley,
I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I have such great memories of her when we were growing up, whether it was going to your house for sleep overs, like the time we got out of school for two days for the flu- that just meant a fun time at Leigh Ashley's house, or her working in the high school office always having a smile on her face. I remember when I was in the 4th grade, she was our substitute teacher for the day and she accidently wore 2 different socks! It was so funny- she even laughed about it along with the rest of us. I am praying for your family. Hugs and love.

Trey, Leigh Ashley and Sam, it’s difficult knowing what to say to you at a time like this. I am so very sorry for all of you.
I sat at many baseball games with Luann as you (Trey) and Brian were playing. I think she and I were even asked to move from behind the batter’s box by the umpire once because we were yelling too loud and distracting the opposing team’s batters. I cherish those times at the games with her and the times that she was a room mother in my second grade class.
Please know that I will be praying for God to give you all much comfort in the days ahead. Rely on and cherish those wonderful memories you all have of Lulu. Love to you all.

Lu Ann was a friend from High School days and was kind, gracious, and always with a beautiful smile on her face. I ran into her several years ago at the skating rink there in Monticello and we talked about our families and time gone by. She was very proud of her family! I pray God surrounds her family with peace and brings them comfort that she is in His hands.
