Eloise ''Wease'' Jacob was born July 1, 1941, the eldest of three children, to the late James Wesley Walker and Ollie Bell Arteila Walker. She departed this life Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Baptist Health Drew County in Monticello, AR. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wille Earl Jacob, Sr.; her brother, James Walker; and in-laws, Balem and Mary Jacob.
She graduated from Drew High School in Monticello, AR and attended Arkansas A&M University (now UAM) for two years with her daughter. She believed in attending class and working hard to make high grades. She was also a classroom substitute teacher. Eloise worked at Burlington Industries for over 20 years before working at the Arkansas Baptist Home for 10 years. She was a very gifted pianist having taught piano lessons to countless people ranging in age from 9 to 65 years of age and up to two hours from Monticello. If it wasn't right, you would have to do it until you got it right. Eloise played the piano at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for 72 years. She was also the pianist for Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home where she played for funerals for many years. Anyone that knew her knew that she loved to play the piano and singing. She played for many different groups, soloists and choirs. Eloise loved listening to gospel music on television and cd's and you could always hear her randomly singing in her house. This would often lead her to the piano located in the living room where everyone would sing with her. She would also let you know if your singing was good or bad. She was called ''Wease'' by her family and friends.
Eloise and her husband Willie were foster parents for over 23 years. She loved people! She would often say, ''If I can help somebody, then my living will not be in vain.'' She also loved ironing for many people over the years and enjoyed cooking, especially lemon cake. Eloise loved the Lord and encouraged all of her family to study the word of God and be present at church, meetings, and choir rehearsals.
Eloise accepted Christ at an early age. She united with the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.H. King. After his passing, Rev. T.S. Skipper became the pastor. After his passing, Rev. D.J. Buffington took over the church and became her pastor for many years. At times while Rev. Buffington is preaching, the Holy Ghost would touch her and she would stand up and play the piano and sing. Eloise was a member of Morning Star Church for 82 years.
Eloise leaves to cherish her memory a step-daughter, Willie Mae Rogers of Parchama, CA; three daughters, Margie Lundy, Shelia Jacob Vincent and Regina Jacob all of Monticello; four step-sons, Willie James Jacob (Carol) of Kansas City, MO, Earnest Jacob of Little Rock, Charles Jacob of Hamburg and Lonnie Walker of Monticello; two God children, Dantanese Ridgell of Monticello and Eric Lamb of Conway; grandchildren, Arielle Cones, Artayvias Jacob, Grayson Lundy, Reign Collins, Trve Jacob, Aaron Railey and Taylor Railey; along with other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, relatives and friends.
A wake will be Friday, December 20, 2024, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. To the Jacobs Family:

May you find comfort in the memories that your mom created with you. Mrs. Eloise was the cream of the crop when it came to music, playing the piano and singing. She truly had gifted hands and she stirred up her gift. My girls were blessed to have her as their music teacher. It is because of her teaching that they both have the gift of music. She deposited in them the touch of music and teaching them to tickle the ivories as well. Grateful that she shared her craft. I will always remember her when I hear my girls play the piano.

Gifted hands are now at rest. Rest well Mrs. Eloise. I can visualize you playing the piano for the heavenly choir, singing and praising and making a joyful noise.

    With Deepest Sympathy,
    Gaynell Jamison
