Tamira McCoy was born October 5, 1974, in Monticello, Arkansas to Janice McCoy-Edwards and the late William McCoy. She departed this life on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
She confessed her life to Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Alford Branch. She was a member of Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church.
She was a 1993 graduate of Monticello High School. She attended UAPB for two years, moved to Detroit, MI for several years and moved back to Arkansas. She worked at Walmart, Advanced Auto Parts Store, and Quality Inn as a front desk clerk. While working she decided to further her education. She received two associate degrees, one in General Technology and the other in Health Information Technology. She was a certified medical coder and received her Bachelor's Degree in 2017 from UAM. Tamira loved to travel around and drive different places with her ride or die, Tyler Jones.
In addition to her biological father, William McCoy, she is preceded in death by her sister, Michonda McCoy; and uncle, Keith Franklin.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her parents, Billy and Janice Edwards of Monticello, AR; special friend and life partner, Terrence Jones of Monticello, AR; mother and father in love, Mark and Jackie Simmons of Monticello, AR; two sons, Tariq Jenkins of Atlanta, GA and Tyler Jones of Monticello, AR; two brothers, William McCoy of Dallas, TX and Brandon Edwards of Austin, TX; one sister, Rosalind (Keith) Tenner of Monticello, AR; nephew, Tyricus (Jessica) McCoy of Monticello, AR; niece, Samone (Cedric) Hutson of Monticello, AR; as well as a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins; the Roberson Family, her bonus family of Pine Bluff, AR; and other family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church in Monticello, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.     I had the pleasure of meeting Tamira when she came to pick her son Tyler up from school. She was such a sweet soul! I will miss seeing her when itโ€™s time to pick up Tyler. RIP and I will always remember your friendly smile!
