He was retired from the United States Air Force with 25 years of service, a retired security guard with First City Bank in Dallas, TX and a member of the Oak Grove Assembly Of God Church of Monticello.
Survivors include his wife, Betty JoAnne Pharr Ramsey of Monticello; two sons, Dean Ramsey of Garland, TX and Steven Jay Ramsey of San Francisco, CA; one daughter, Victoria Bates of Monticello; one sister, Christine Ramsey Sipes of Monticello; four grandchildren, Wayne Bates of Arizona, Dennis Bates of Star City, Mandy Reaves of Monticello and Jason Eric Ramsey of Gun Barrell, TX; and five great grandchildren, Taylor Reaves, Samantha Reaves, Nova Bates, Gerald Bates and Cora Bates.
