Shirley Ann Bateman Carpenter, age 68, of Monticello passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Lake Village, AR. She was born July 25, 1943 in Monticello.

She was a retired school teacher and business woman and a member of Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Vester and Beatrice Collins Bateman and was also preceded in death by one son, Randall Carpenter.

Survivors include; her husband, Glen Carpenter of Monticello; one son, Lee Carpenter of Crossett; three daughters, Lachelle Boone and husband, Bobby of Monticello, Stacy Scott of Monticello, and Amy Johnston and husband, Brad also of Monticello; three brothers, Robert Bateman of Monticello, Delbert Bateman and Gene Bateman both of Pine Bluff; one sister, Elizabeth Hawkins of Orange, TX; nine grandchildren, Randall Carpenter, Jr., Steve Harper, Amber Carpenter, Heath Carpenter, Brittany Boone, Lara Boone, Dustin Scott, Chaney Scott, and Braden Johnston; and four great-grandchildren, Alayna Boone, Preslee Sturdivant, Greyson Sturdivant and Conley Sturdivant.

We will always remember our good times visiting at Uncle Vestor's and Aunt Bee's.I remember (Suzanne] visiting Shirley and Glen in their trailer and them fixing breakfast for me. Also I remember Aunt Bee and I visiting at their home. Their daughters were very friendly and made me welcome. She was proud of her family.
