He was a self employed business owner, cattle farmer, worked for AIF Food Distribution Company out of Pine Bluff, served in the National Guard and was a Baptist. He grew up in Hamburg and graduated from Hamburg High School in the class of 1954, and he was very proud of that. He was loved by all of family and friends. He was the son of the late Staley Carpenter and Lillie Mae Lloyd Carpenter and was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Bateman Carpenter, one son, Randall Carpenter, two brothers, Kermit Carpenter and Ralph "Sporty" Lloyd Carpenter and one sister, Lucille Carpenter.
Survivors include one son, Lee Carpenter of Crossett; three daughters, Lachelle Boone and husband, Bobby, Stacy Scott and Amy Johnston and husband, Brad, all of Monticello; two sisters, Inita Nowlin of Ft. Worth, TX and Mattie Beth Greening of Longview, TX; nine grandchildren, Randall Carpenter, Jr, Steve Harper, Amber Carpenter, Heath Carpenter, Brittany Boone, Lara Boone, Dustin Scott, Chaney Scott and Braden Johnston; four great-grandchildren, Alayna Boone, Preslee Sturdivant, Greyson Sturdivant and Conley Sturdivant.
