Adrain Dewitt Thompson was born Saturday, December 14, 1935 to the late Shelvis Juan Thompson and Dora Christine Vincent (Vinson) Thompson. We are comforted in knowing that he departed this life to"walk that shiny road" surrounded by those he loved and who loved him. On Thursday afternoon, September 20, 2012 he was suddenly and forever in the peaceful and joyous presence of our Heavenly Father.

On August 26, 1961 he married Jacqueline McCray of Monticello. To this union five children were born: Adrain Rarnell, Sebrena Arnell, Victoria Jarnell, Kimbra Deonne and Julius Lavon. He later married Mary Hall.

Affectionately and widely known as "Uncle Dude", he was an introspective and quiet man with a gentle yet ignitable spirit. His heart loved and cared about the welfare of others. While he grew up knowing about God and in the reverential fear of the Lord, he accepted and professed his salvation later in life. By God's Grace, death did not catch him off guard and, in the days prior to his departure, he tried to prepare us for his exit. In his last days, his strength and
faith were unflinching as he encouraged us to "keep praying and don't worry".

Uncle Dude was known for his walk, his wit and his way with people. He gave mostly everyone a nickname such as "Bill" (Shirley Griffin), "Zach" (Shelvis Thompson), "Robalee" (Sandra Crowell Burnett), "Deek-A-Leek" (Kimbra Thompson) which was most often only his to use.
Despite his own needs, his compassion and empathy compelled him to extend himself to others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Adrain Rarnell Thompson; three brothers, NT Thompson, TL Swift and James O.C. Thompson and one sister, Effie Louise "Diddy" Thompson Crowell.

Cherishing his time on earth and comforted by his newly found eternal life are his ex-wife, Jacqueline McCray Thompson (Dallas, TX); two sons, Sherman Ingram of Warren, Arkansas, Julius L. Thompson, Sr. (Christie) of Dallas, TX; four daughters, Kathy L. Woods (Fred) of Pine Bluff, AR; Sebrena A. Thompson Jones (Gerald) of Dallas, TX; Victoria J. Thompson of Houston, TX; and Kimbra D. Thompson of Dallas, TX., 10 grandchildren, one step granddaughter, and eight great-grandchildren. One brother, Shelvis Juan "Dusty" Thompson
(Mary) of Monticello, AR; two sisters, Mable Lee Thompson Rhodes of Monticello, AR, Narvis Thompson Bourdeaux of Milwaukee, WI; a most-devoted niece and caregiver, Shirley Thompson Griffin (Harry) of Monticello, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and "associates" will continue to celebrate his life, his wit and his memory.

To the family of Adrian Dewitt Thompson better know as "Dude". He was a man amongst men, a king amongst kings. I was raised up in Wilmar, Arkansas my mother is Erma Jean Ridgell Jones, my father the late Rev. Patrick H. Jones Jr. I played basketball with cousin Dude oldest son Sherman Ingram and old what a day to remember when we played Monticello teams featuring Hank and Gerald Thompson. My mother always told us the Thompson's, Rhodes's, Robinson's and Crowell's were close family. My mother always talked about how Dude loved his family. any time she would see him he always had time to said hello, if he came to Wilmar he'll always stop to see how she was during. As my mother say today " I love my family like my cousin Dude". My mother taught us to love our family, after all that all you really got in this world is "Family".

To the Family in This Time of Sorrow...
As you share, talk, and remember, may you truly find that the one you loved so much is still living in your hearts.

There are times along life's journey that can test the spirit deeply...
Though this is certainly one of those times, may you never stop believing that your faith, your inner strength, and the power of God's love will carry you through.

    In Deepest Sympathy
    The Ridgell and Jones Family

What a friend we have in Jesus. He is always with us as we let his will be done. Mr Thompson is on a better place now. A place all believers want to eventually get to. And when that reunion occurs what a happy day, where the days are eternal, it will be.

God Bless the family in this and in all times!!!

May God's peace and love embrace you during this most difficult transition. Rest assured that though you will miss him, find joy in the fact that the hardships of this world do not await him anymore, only the presence and the glory of God. Don't look back but look forward because there will come a day when you will be reunited and that day will be the greatest of any day you have witnessed.

Julius, Sabrina, Victoria, Kimberly, Jacqueline McCray Thompson and members of the family, Grief is a perfect normal response to the death of your loved one. It is an adjustment process, which will allow all of you too gradually to accept this loss. The process is the same whether you are grieving the loss of a brother, sister or other significant person.

The death of Adrian Thompson from this mortal state to immortality is a great loss and it is necessary to acknowledge it not only to your self-but to others. The adjustment will be easier for all family members by feeling free in expressing your respective grief. In addition to your feelings of despair and loneliness, you have to lose control of your emotions. Painful as it is, it is part of the normal grieving process. However, there is also an intensifying of faith in Jesus Christ, which gives you sufficient inner strength to carry you through this difficult period.

Finally, with the passing of time, there will be a gradual severing of
Adrian Thompson's thoughts and emotional ties. As you emerge from this bereavement, you will discover that you are a stronger person than you were before his death, you all will have gained a deeper faith, along with increased sensitivity, and greater understanding and compassion for one another and for others.
