He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne from 1950-1953 and made over 100 jumps. He was also a Mason and Scottish Rite Shriner which was very important to him. On February 10, 1955, he was initiated in the Bartlett Lodge No. 697 of Bartlett, TN.
Reggie was a Glazier by trade and started his own business in Nashville before moving it to Ft. Myers in 1978. He was owner and operator of Sewell Door Control & Glass which was open for 30 years and was well respected throughout the community. His hobbies were spending time with family, boating, fishing and hunting, scuba diving and he enjoyed watching sports, even Nascar. He also loved the farm in Monticello and riding the tractor. He was a loving and kind, generous, hard working, devoted man and some would say he was a crazy driver.
Survivors include his wife Mavis Cruce Sewell; three daughters, Tammy Sewell, Regina Heck and husband, John and Sharon Curtis; one sister, Rita Bower; one brother, William Sewell; and five grandsons, Travis Minix, Jr., Tyler Minix, Austin Martin, Jonathan Heck and Julian Heck.
In lieu of floral tributes a Memorial Fund has been made in Reggie's name at www.gatewaygives.org
