In the year of 1957, he met and married Betty Jackson Spencer and to this union two (2) children were born: Michael and Wanda Spencer. He later on in life met and married Dorothy Boston and no children were born to this union. He moved to California for a better job opportunity. He met and married Lillian and to this union one son was born: Floyd Curtis Spencer. He raised Lillian's daughter from a small child to an adult. Floyd traveled to many States seeking employment. He was a master of all trades. It wasn't hardly any job he could not do, just to mention a few: plumbing, electrical, painting houses, farming, even highway construction. He landed a good job with Arkansas Highway Department in Ashley County.
He was an articulate person. He was very neat, a well-dressed, well groomed and stylish man. He was known for his clothes and shoes he wore. Please do not step on "Floyd" shining shoes that was a real fight from "Boo-Jack". He wore his clothing with pride. He was a prime example for young men to pick themselves up and have confidence. He had a lot of issues in life but he managed through them by accepting Christ as his personal Savior. Christianity was firmly embedded in his life by his parents and family. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age. And also again in his adulthood. At the end he "had a closer walk with the Lord and Savior"
He departed this life October 15, 2013 at 12:30am. He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd O.Spencer, Sr. and his mother, Doris Lee King Spencer; his wife, Dorothy Boston Spencer; his brother, Raymond Louis Spencer; his Aunties Behula Mae McHenry and Blanche Hall and his uncle, James (Pete) McHenry. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Michael Spencer (Minnesota), Wanda Spencer (Florida), Raphael Johnson (Indiana) and, Floyd Curtis Spencer (California); his brothers and sisters, Elise Wilson (Earl) Fountain Hills, Alice Ferguson (Henry), Peggie Withers (Johnny Ray), Patricia Nalls (Melvin) all of California, Marvin Spencer,Sr. (Marie) Arkansas, Lecester Spencer (Althea) California; 7 grandchildren; one auntie, Vernice Collins (California); a special Cousin, Adolphus McHenry (Dorothy Ann); many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
