John Paul Jones "J.P." was born to the late Johnnie Jones and Ida Lee Ridgell Jones on June 24, 1924. He departed this life on November 11, 2013 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.

John Paul confessed his life and hope in Christ at an early age where he joined Green Mount AME Church and later moved his membership to Mt. Zion AME Church. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II

John Paul fathered one daughter, Floree Jones by the late Mary Christian. He later united in Holy Matrimony to the late Velma Collins Jones. To this union, eight children were born, Paul, Sidney, Fredrick, Carol, Bennie, Billy, Bobby and Edward; five whom preceded him in death, Paul, Sidney, Fredrick, Carol and Bennie. Later he married Vernal Greenberry Jones, who preceded him in death. To this union, five children were born, Andrew, Gennie, Carolyn, Tracey and Lynn, two preceded him in death, Tracey and Lynn. His last child was Keisha. He had two, brothers, Americah Jones of California and I. V. Jones who preceded him in death. He also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
