She started working for Drew Memorial Hospital in the early 1950's as a CNA and retired in 1994 as a dietician. She later came out of retirement to work 17 years for the Monticello Social Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Lillie Bell Phillips, a brother, Osman Phillips, a sister, Margaret Hubbard, a son, Melvin Phillips and a granddaughter, Safonda Phillips.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Michael Phillips of Milwaukee, WI, Bennett Lee Phillips, and Steve (Jennifer) Phillips, both of Monticello, AR; three daughters, Amanda (George) Matthews and Darlene Veasey-Johnson, both of Monticello, AR, and Maxine White of Kansas City, KA; two sisters, Mozelle Jacobs and Alpha Ambrose of Monticello; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Phillips of Monticello, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
