He accepted Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and joined Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California.
Jerry was a kind, compassionate, and easy going guy. He loved children and his family. He was a "people person," who found joy in talking to people and being humorous. Jerry loved fishing, being outdoors and computer technology.
Jerry graduated from Jack Yates High School in Houston, Texas. He was employed by US Steel and the Santa Fe Railroad in Los Angeles, California as a line driver for many years. He was married to Stella Wells for 48 years.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 48 years, Stella Gray of Monticello; a special nephew he helped raise, Darrin Wells (Rhonda) of Los Angeles; s special goddaughter, Aisha Smith of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Linda Gray Waddell (Willie) of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home with Rev. Jessie Washington officiating. Burial will follow in Brooks Chapel Cemetery. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
