She was a multi-faceted businesswoman having owned her own trucking company, a postal service employee and schoolteacher. Lila's hobbies included traveling, sightseeing and walking on the sandy beaches. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Ross; a sister, Sybil Giles; and a stepson, Randy Newton.
Survivors include her husband, Carlton Newton of Monticello; a son, Thomas Rowland of Monticello; a daughter, Tina Sims of Crossett; two brothers, Frank Ross of Sims, AL and Floyd Ross of Silas, AL; and three grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Hospice Home Care of Monticello for the excellent care given to Lila.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Rash Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
