She was a graduate of Drew Central High School with four years of perfect attendance and retired from Burlington Industries after 44 years with 13 years of perfect attendance at the Burlington Spinning Plant. She was a member of Second Baptist Church having joined in 1954 with some perfect yearly attendance awards.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Gene Chambers, Jr.; two sisters, Naomi Cessor and Veneta Beasley; a brother, Walter Hollingsworth; and a daughter-in-law, Nelda Chambers.
She is survived by her grandson, Chris Chambers and wife Jeannie; a great granddaughter, Allison Chambers; a great grandson, Christopher Chambers and wife Kaitlyn; three great-great granddaughters, Gracelynn Chambers, Carter Ruth Chambers, and Codi Mae Chambers; brother-in-law, Harold Beasley; and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to her extended family of Mack and Modestine Harrod, Carl and Kayla Harrod along with their children, Ava Leigh, Grant and Brooks for the love and care given to our grandma.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Hearron officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. preceding the funeral service. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery. You can sign Mrs. Dorothy's guest registry on this page.
